Rugby Galore

It had been rugby galore for 2 weeks. 2 touch rugby sessions the week before last, watched 1 match at a pub n 1 live, and finally to end it all, an intra singsoc touch rugby tournament last sat.

The match was amazing, given that it was my first live match in London. It was Australia v Barbarians, Barbarians being an invitational rugby club. As a true blue Singaporean, I gathered my forces and booked the tickets on the day of release, which allowed us to get front row seats *beams*. Unfortunately, we were seated on one end of the stadium (cheapest tickets...), and the action was on the other end of the stadium BOTH halves *unbeams*. Speak about bad luck...

I had to rip photos off people (wth is my cam???), which explains why I have delayed blogging this entry. In fact, up till now, I only have photos taken from David's cam. Which honestly, MAKES NO DIFFERENCE to whether I have the photos or not. I was expecting better photos from him, given that he is a rugger, and would be able to predict potential photo moments. BUT NO! All I got were

this,

this,

and THIS?!?!?! "Oh no, cam low batt" but can still zooooom in to beautiful cheerleaders. And now I know David prefers them headless...

And the closet pervert even snuck a shot of Joan (who had the brains to bring crisps along:D). Luckily, the floodlights thwart his plans...

All right, but there were SOME shots that did justice to our perfect location.
Much thanks to Bing Liang, who taught me several things during the match; things which I didn't learn in my short rugby life.

According to David, this is the most capped scrum-half in the world. Attempts to capture his front view didn't work, coz he kept snubbing us:( Or maybe he was watching the match. Hmmm...

This guy here is one of the few stewards which Zhiyang and David had to look out for as they planned their streaker stance.

Touch tournament;)
I got quite disillusionised during the touch rugby tournament. My team,"The Big Bad Wolf" were overall champions. And not a single 1 of the guys were ruggers (Zhiyang, Alvin, Jiaxuan) . All of them were footballers with the vision "Just Whack". I was skeptical of that initially, given that all the other teams had ex-ruggers on them. However, my teammates showed me that speed and agility can make up for the lack of experience, skills and strategy. I had no idea what was going on on the pitch, much less played at all. Nonetheless, we won:) Both Zhi Yang and Jiaxuan were shotlisted for MVP (ruggers excluded), with Zhiyang getting it eventually, so I supposed that explains why we won. In fact, if Alvin had stayed on to play in the finals, he would probably be in the running for MVP too. I might learn all the tactics whatever, but at the end of the day, they don't really count. If you put 3 superb individuals together, they don't need to work as a team. Damn... The prize was qt cute, consisting of a choc coin with a string taped to it to look like a medal (WTH is my cam????).
